Here’s to you!

December 24, 2009

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts.  There are very few people I know who haven’t had less than a stellar year, and so I understand how time and personal efforts are limited.  Thank you so much for supporting my blog!

I also wanted to say – being Christmas Eve –I hope you’re taking the time to enjoy the holidays with friends and family.  Christmas is such a stressful time because of personal expectations, everything that feels like a familial obligation and even cultural demands that sometimes you’re left playing a political card with those whose company you don’t really enjoy.  But you have to take all of that stress with a grain of salt.  Yes, line-ups to take pictures with Santa are long, yes, it’s painful to listen your that crazy uncle who never really knows what he’s talking about, and yes, it’s hard to eat yet another plateful of the same family dish that each of your aunties must feed you – but that’s the fun of visiting with people and learning about them.  At least you have those pictures, at least you made your uncle smile, and at least your aunties don’t have to feel like they wasted an entire afternoon over the stove!

At the end of the day, aren’t the holidays about spending time with people?  It’s the quirks and foibles people have that make you smile, and keep them in your heart as the years pass by.

Similar to being an active networker, it seems easier to ignore certain invitations to see people, and see specific people you’re most comfortable with instead.  But I have to say that I’m always satisfied when I’ve finally seen a friend of family member that I hadn’t seen in months, especially over the holidays … even when there’s a little drama that results.

Season’s greetings to you, and may peace and prosperity enliven you for the new year!
